The Lady Ramblers from Boyne City made the trip down to Kalkaska to play the Lady Blazers in a Tuesday night varsity volleyball match up. After both JV teams warmed up the floor, the varsity clubs came out firing for their five games.

Game one belonged to the Blazers thanks to a powerful offense led by senior Jordyn Disbrow from the outside and junior Violet Porter from the middle. The Blazers aggressive attack led to a 25-19 win.

Game two started slowly for Kalkaska, as Boyne City jumped out to an early 6-0 lead. But the Blazers came back with a run of their own to tie it up at 9-9 before going on to take a 24-17 lead. The Ramblers, however, fought back before the Lady Blazers finished them off for a game two victory, 25-22.

The Blazers would not be denied in game three, as their offensive attack continued to pound the ball hard against the Ramblers. When the dust settled the Blazers finished the three game sweep, 25-16.

As a team the Blazers served 94%, and they scored on 4 blocks, 8 aces, and 41 kills. Junior Lorelei Simkins led the team with three aces. Senior Jordyn Disbrow had 13 kills, Juniors Mia Miller and Violet Porter had 10 and 8 respectively. Senior Payton McKenzie and Junior Audrey Comai each added four more kills to round out the Blazer attack.

Senior Mackenzie Kniss served 100% for the game, along with Porter and senior Ongell Stevens, and Kniss also added 30 assists to her game totals. Miller had two more blocks (bringing her team-leading season total to 10). Libero Alli DeVol led the solid Blazer defense with strong play and great communication.

The Blazers host a quad on Saturday the 26th, starting at 9am. Come out and watch these young ladies play their exciting, and scrappy brand of volleyball.
