Boys/Girls Varsity Cross Country @ NSC Conference Championship

The Blazer cross country teams ran at the Northern Shores Conference Championship on October 15 at Boyne Mountain Resort. Boyne City hosted the meet and the eight teams in the conference attended. Harbor Springs won the girls meet, and Brynne Schulte of Elk Rapids won overall with a time of 19:16.3. The Charlevoix boys won, led by their own Hunter Eaton who finished in 15:59.1.
The girls team finished fourth, led by Aaliyah Hillier, who placed 5th overall for First Team All Conference honors, in a time of 20:45.1. Izzy Wegener earned 2nd Team All Conference honors for her 11th place finish in 21:53.3. Anna Martin earned All Conference Honorable Mention with a season record of 24:02.1. Courtney Borden and Paige Balliet also scored for the Blazers, with Balliet running a PR. Payton Bonofiglio and Lily Trumble placed, and Trumble ran a PR. Nivaya Ochampaugh also ran a season best.
The boys finished fifth, with Owen McGlone leading the way for the Blazers. He finished in 15th place for 2nd Team All Conference honors with a PR of 17:51.9. Coltrane Paryani also earned 2nd Team All Conference with a time of 17:56.9. Seth Storm scored, but his time and place are being sorted out at the time of publication, though his exclusion shouldn't have impacted their overall finish for the team. Kellen TenHopen, Jackson Shetler, and Owen Shetler scored at this point, with TenHopen running a PR. Jackson Shetler ran a season best time, and just beat Owen Shetler by about a second. Owen ran a PR. That was a fun finish to watch. Zach Little and Brandon Martin also ran a PRs, and Ephraim Conway ran a season best
The middle school girls finished 7th, and Gwen Finley led them for a 20th place finish with a PR of 15:09.6. Ryane Gilbert, Sophia Garcia, McKenna Jenkins, and Brynlee Adams scored, and Avery Shriver placed.
The middle school boys WON the meet, led by first place finisher J.J. Fox, who ran 12:00.7. Griffin Anderson, James Martin, Nicholas Wegener, and Kyle Ball scored, and there was an awesome battle between Martin and Wegener. Luke Scott and Sam Belongia placed. Excellent work gentlemen!
