CHARLEVOIX HIGH SCHOOL: 3

The Lady Blazers took their varsity volleyball team on the road Thursday night to face the Lady Rayders, and current conference leaders, of Charlevoix. And as has been the case all year with the girls in blue, a great match ensued!

Kalkaska came out strong and took game one, 25-23. Senior Alli DeVol seemed to get her hands on almost every Charlevoix hit or serve, and her 100% game one passing was a key to the Blazers win.

Games two and three continued to showcase the strong overall game play of Kalkaska as they responded to big hit after big hit from Charlevoix's strong offensive attack and showed some offensive power of their own. Even though the Lady Blazers fell 17-25 and 20-25, the growth of the team continues to show.

In game four Charlevoix captured the home court advantage and finished off Kalkaska, 15-25. Although the Lady Blazers fell in four games, they showed they are able to compete with the conference's best teams.

100% serving from  Alina Membrillo, Violet Porter, and Alli DeVol helped lead the strong Blazer offense. Porter added 9 kills, while Jordyn Disbrow had 8 and Mia Miller contributed 7 more from the middle.

Charlevoix's strong inside game forced Kalkaska's setters to dig big hits, so Membrillo and Kenzie Kniss had 10 digs apiece. Ongell Stevens demonstrated great hustle and scrappy play in some highlight level saves that helped keep Blazer rallies alive. Once again, it was a total team effort for the girls in blue.

The Blazers have a busy schedule during the upcoming homecoming week. On Monday they travel to Pine River for a tri, followed by home games Tuesday and Thursday nights.
