Boys/Girls Varsity Track @ Elk Rapids Invitational

The Blazer track and field teams competed in tough conditions at the Elk Rapids Invitational on Monday, April 21, 2025. Traverse City St. Francis won the boys and girls meets. The Kalkaska girls took second, one point ahead of Elk Rapids, and the boys finished 4th of the seven teams attending.
Jenna Spence won the shot put and took 3rd in the discus with a season record.
Carly Griffith took 2nd in the discus with a season record.
Kylee Jenkins took 2nd in the high jump with a new PR, and 4th in the 400.
Gabe Buyze-Prieto took 2nd in the pole vault and the 110 hurdles, and 3rd in the 300 hurdles.
Edda Grusnick placed 2nd in the 1600 with a new PR, and 3rd in the 800
The 4x800 relay team of Aaliyah Hillier, Edda Grusnick, Anna Martin, and Kara Olds placed 3rd.
New PRs were set by
Eric Bindemann in the discus
Rylee Haver in the 800
Nivaya Ochampaugh in the 1600
Aaliyah Hillier in the 3200
Max Gooch in the 100 and the 200
Tre' Bromley in the 400
Vanessa Hoppe in the 100, and
Xiana Buyze-Prieto in the 100 hurdles

Coltrane Paryani in the 1600
Brooke Merideth in the 400 and
Issaic Fischer in the 800
Everybody put out excellent effort in the wind, rain, and cold. Very proud of our Blazers. The Blazers will race again, or at least some of them will, at the 9th/10th grade meet in Harbor Springs, on Monday, April 28th.
