Boys/Girls Varsity Track at D3 State Finals

The track and field state finals was held on Saturday in Kent City. 

Coltrane Paryani, Camden Moore, Adam Williams, and Gavin Guggemos placed 6th in the 4x800 relay for All State honor, running a season best time. 

Gavin also won All State in the 800 with a 5th place finish, and in the 1600 with a 6th place finish, setting a new school record in that event with a time of 4:24.18. Congratulations!

Myah Little ran a strong 400 race and Gabe Buyze-Prieto competed in the 110 hurdles. Both will be looking to return next season, and have a strong chance of doing so in at least one event. 

All in all, this was an excellent track and field season with much improvement among all of the athletes.

The track and field state finals was held on Saturday in Kent City.

Members of the Track and Field teams ran at the Record Eagle John Lober Honor Roll Invitational which brings together top athletes from Kalkaska, Grand Traverse, Benzie, Antrim, and Leelanau counties. 

Gavin Guggemos won the 800 with a personal record of 1:57.84

The 4x800 team of Adam Williams, Coltrane Paryani, Camden Moore, and Gavin Guggemos finished second with a season best time. 

Personal records were set by: 

Cam Moore in the 1600

Coltrane Paryani in the 3200

Myah Little in the 400

and JaeAnn Davis in the pole vault

Anna Martin ran a season best in the 3200

Also, congratulations to Coach Andy Henderson who received the Honor Roll Meet Legacy Award for his dedication to the sport of track and field. 

Boys/Girls Varsity Track @ Lake Michigan Conference Championship

The track and field teams competed at the last Lake Michigan Conference Championship meet in East Jordan last night. Charlevoix won the boy's meet, and Traverse City St. Francis won the girl's meet. The Kalkaska boys finished 5th and the girls finished 6th of 8 teams. 

Gavin Guggemos earned All Conference First Team, and he will be the last Lake Michigan Conference Champion in the 1600, and in the 800, where he set a PR and broke two minutes. 

Second place finishes and All Conference Second Team Awards were earned by

Coltrane Paryani, Camden Moore, Adam Williams, and Gavin Guggemos in the 4x800 relay

Myah Little in the 400 and the high jump

third place finishes and All Conference Honorable Mention Awards went to

JaeAnn Davis in the pole vault

Ally Sutton in the high jump

and Gabe Buyze-Prieto in the 300 hurdles

Boys/Girls Varsity Track vs. Multiple Opponents

The track and field teams competed at the regional meet yesterday. The boys and girls from Clare won both meets. The Kalkaska boys placed 6th and the girls tied for tenth of 16 teams. Top 8 in each event earned medals and all region honors

Myah Little placed 2nd in the 400 with a PR and will be competing at the state finals, she also placed 5th in the high jump

Gavin Guggemos was second in the 800, with a new PR, and second in the 1600. He will go to the the state finals in those events

Guggemos, Cam Moore, Adam Williams, and Coltrane Paryani placed third in the 4x800 relay, and will advance to the state finals based on a qualifying time

Kayden Dueweke-Gonzales, Gavin Guggemos, Jackson Shetler, and Cam Moore were 3rd in the 4x400 relay. Amazing effort. 

Gabe Buyze-Prieto was third in the 110 hurdles, and will advance to the state final with a qualifying time, he was also 6th in the 300 hurdles

Kayden Dueweke-Gonzales was 4th in the 400

Cam Moore was 4th in the 1600

Jenna Spence was 5th in the discus with a PR

Adam Williams was 6th in the 1600 with a new PR and 7th in the 300 hurdles

Kylie Robinson was 6th in the 200 and ran a new season record

Gave Buyze-Prieto, Jackson Arnold, Jackson Shetler, and Kayden Dueweke-Gonzales were 6th in the 4x200 relay.

Anna Martin, Alyssa Colvin, Abby Minion, and Kara Olds were 7th in the 4x800 relay

Coltrane Paryani was 8th in the 1600

Carly Griffith was 8th in the discus with a PR

Congratulations to our state finalists, regional top 8 finishers, and those who ran, jumped, vaulted and threw. 

The Blazers will compete again next Wednesday at the Lake Michigan Conference meet.

The track and field teams competed at the East Jordan Invitational last night. The Weather was great and the osprey was on the fly as 21 teams assembled in large and small school divisions. In the large school division, Sault Ste. Marie's boys and girls placed first. The Blazer boys tied Ogemaw Heights for third place, and the girls finished 5th.

Gavin Guggemos won the 1600 and the 800 with a new PR

Gabe Buyze-Prieto took 2nd in the 110 hurdles with a new PR and third in the 300 Hurdles

Kayden Dueweke-Gonzales was 2nd in the 400 with a new PR

JaeAnn Davis was 2nd in the pole vault with a season record

Adam Williams was 2nd in the 300 hurdles and set new PRs in that event and in the 1600

Camden Moore was third in the 1600 and the 3200 with a new PR

Jackson Shetler tied for third in the high jump and set a new PR in the 200

Jenna Spence was third in the discus

Anna Martin was third in the 3200 with a new season record and also set a PR in the 1600

Jackson Shetler, Adam Williams, Kayden Dueweke-Gonzales, and Cam Moore finished third in the 4x400 relay, but bumped up to second place after the first place team was disqualified for saying a no-no word at the finish line.

Boys/Girls Varsity Track at Boyne City Invite

The track and field teams competed in Boyne City last night at their invitational. The boys placed 6th and the girls placed 8th out of 15 teams attending, with Elk Rapids winning the boys and girls meets. 

Gavin Guggemos won the 800 in a stellar race where he had to avoid getting boxed in by competitors. He came back a little while later to win the 3200. He PRd in both races. 

Guggemos, Kayden Dueweke-Gonzales, Cam Moore, and Adam Williams placed 2nd in the 4x800 relay

JaeAnn Davis was third in the Pole Vault.

Myah Little placed 2nd in the high jump and third in the 800 with a new PR

New PRs were set by Cade Ponstein, Jonah Weaver, and Giorgia Battaglia in the 100 ,EllaKay Begg in the 200, David Crawford and Hunter Marvin in the 400, Jonah Babbitt, Issaic Fischer, and Naomi Wilke in the 800

Boys/Girls Track @ Harbor Springs 9th and 10th grader meet

The 9th and 10th grade track and field teams competed at Harbor Springs yesterday. 

The girls won the event ahead of Harbor Springs, and the boys took 4th of 8 teams. 

Vanessa Hoppe, Alorrah Doty, Xiana Buyze-Prieto, and Kylee Robinson won the girl's 4x100 relay, 

Jenna Mexico won won the shot put and was third in the discus with a new PR

Carly Griffith won the long jump and was second in the shot put with a new PR

Addy Novath was 3rd in the shot put, and Jaz Romans joined Novath, Mexico, and Griffith to sweep the top four spots in the shot. Romans also threw a PR

Jackson Shetler was first in the high jump with a season record in that event, along with the 200 and 400,

Jonah Weaver, Jackson Shetler, Jackson Arnold, and Carlos Morton-Clark won the 4x200

Alorrah Doty was 2nd in the 100 hurdles and set a season record in the 100

Abby Minion, Angela Rodriguez, Naomi Wilke, and Anna Martin were second in the 4x800. 

Issaic Fischer, Cade Ponstein, Tre' Bromley, and Jonah Babbitt were third in the 4x800

Anna Martin, Vanessa Hoppe, Naomi Wilke, and Brooke Merideth were third in the girl's 4x400, 

Myah Little was 2nd in the 1600 and 3rd in the 800

The track and field teams competed in Boyne City on Tuesday. After a thunderstorm delay, things got underway, and both teams walked away with second place finishes, behind East Jordan. 

JaeAnn Davis won the pole vault and ran a season record in the 400

Ava Ivkovich won the 100 with a new season record,

Adam Williams won the 300 hurdles with a new season record

Myah Little won the high jump and the 800

Cade Ponstein, David Crawford, Jackson Arnold, and Johan Weaver won the 4x100 relay, 

Logan Phaneuf, Jackson Arnold, Kayden Dueweke-Gonzales, and surprise guest Ephraim Conway won the 4x200 relay

Dueweke-Gonzales, Cam Moore, Arnold, and Coltrane Paryani won the 4x400 relay

Paryani, Moore, Adam Williams, and Gavin Guggemos won the 4x800 relay

Anna Martin, Kara Olds, Abby Minion, and Myah Little won the 4x800 relay

Kara Olds was third in the 1600 with a new PR.

The track and field teams ran at the Charlevoix Invitational on Friday. Both the boy's and girl's teams placed 4th out of ten schools. Top three in each event won medals.

Gavin Guggemos won the 800 and won and set a new PR in the 1600. 

Cam Moore, Kayden Duweke-Gonzalez, Adam Williams, and Guggemos won the 4x800 relay

Alorrah Doty, Kylie Robinson, Xiana Buyze-Prieto, and Ava Ivkovich won the 4x100 relay

Myah Little won the high jump and took second in the 800 

Duweke-Gonzalez took third in the 400

Adam Williams took 3rd in the 1600 and 300 hurdles

Abby Minion, Kara Olds, Anna Martin, and Myah Little took 3rd in the 4x800 relay

Jackson Arnold, Gabe Buyze-Prieto, Johan Weaver, and Jackson Shetler took 3rd in the 4x100, 

and Kayden Dueweke-Gonzalez, Jackson Arnold, Adam Williams, and Cam Moore were 3rd in the 4x400 relay.
